Welcome to Fit For Finance

Fit For Finance is intended to help Local authorities understand their position in their journey towards building investment for net zero. The tool develops user knowledge of the enablement and readiness conditions required to empower them to develop a tailored strategy.
The conditions necessary have been grouped into 7 foundational thematic pillars based on lessons learned from successful approaches elsewhere:
- Access to finance
- Organisational capacity
- Place-based
- Socio-economic
- Political and public policy
- Planning and procurement
- Community engagement
The tool guides the user through statements themed within each pillar converting their qualitative and quantitative responses to benchmark their current conditions.
Users
The tool is intended to be used by local authority officers within different roles across finance, corporate leadership, economic growth, environmental, planning, resources, neighbourhoods and democratic service functions. The thematic grouping provides the opportunity to invite contributions from relevant service function roles and provide reflection between strategic policy and programme delivery.
Use
The user is presented with statements to consider their context, mechanisms and delivered outcomes of net-zero policy. N.B. The outputs are most effective and relevant when the user provides honest responses to identify the current conditions rather than ambition or so far unachieved goals.
Output
The tool calculates the current versus necessary activity as a rating. Throughout the session, live scoring will be displayed graphically against each pillar and cumulatively to enable users to prioritise activity across themes and consider the impact of different conditions.
N.B. Outputs are accessible to the user from the website after completing the session. The session is logged to that user who can view, manage versions as well as export inputs and outputs.
Support
This tool is aimed to be used by Local Authorities with the support of their local Net Zero Hub officers. The tool signposts the user to further relevant resources in response to their position within each thematic pillar. Exported outputs along with accessing the relevant resources can then be used to develop a strategic approach.
